As many of you may have heard there was a horrible fire in East Greenbush Sunday morning. Thankfully no one was hurt but the fire destroyed the home completely. This family is part of our East Greenbush Pop Warner family. The EGPW board would like to pull together to help the Miller family rebuild. We will be hosting a bottle drive at the field Monday - Thursday. Drop your empty bottles off anytime between 6 -8pm all proceeds will go to the family. There will also be a donation jar at the concession stand for anyone that wants to donate.

  3. The EGPW Board would like to continue with the efforts of helping the Miller family, whose house was destroyed by a fire this past weekend, and host a 5k walk/run at the Pop Warner Field. This event, "Miles for the Miller's", will take place this Saturday, August 10th, and is open to anyone who would like to participate. We will start the 5k at approximately 9:30am. The entry fee for each participant will be $5 and all proceeds will be donated to the Miller family. You don't have to be a runner or even an athlete to par. You just have to come out and show your support. All ages welcome. Breakfast sandwiches and beverages will be available to purchase. Hope to see you there.

Please help us spread the word, this is open to the entire community!!

  4. Interesting contrast between the Gadfly and Talks blog.
Talks is actually looking to help a East Greenbush family in need.
Gadfly is lamely looking to discredit and throw insults at the Hart family. Interesting contrast in how a true tragedy is looked at.

    Dear Talks and Zip:

Thanks for the information about how we all can try to help.

  6. I think the Hart family would move forward with their business investments whether or not there is a Hart family member on the Town Board or any Board for that matter.

This community has been good for and to the Harts and they have been good for and to the community.

What would Columbia Turnpike look like without their faith and belief in East Greenbush?

  7. Can't help but comment that not one single Gadfly has any investment in East Greenbush - to either improve or purchase vacant buildings. Someone please prove me wrong if you can. I will graciously apologize - but I have thought about this and I actually drove the Turnpike and Route 4 - not one gadfly owned property or business.
Before you all take your cheap shots at the Harts and others, look in the mirror and tell me if that person looking back stacks up ! Otherwise - really, shut up !

  9. Richard K. Matters Jr. vs. William J. Estes and New York State Thruway Authority

Please Google it and look for yourself! Special attention to page 3, 4 , 8, 9 and 10. Look hard before any of you jump on the Maryann matters band wagon or the -( God forbid) Gadfly bandwagon ! Matters is the "Lord and Savior" to Don Johnson and company. You all need to educate yourselves with this important document about "Mr. Ethics" himself !

  10. I have a very difficult time stomaching Mr. Matters lectures at Town Board meetings and his articles in the Advertiser on ethics. Mr. Matters is the definition of the "do as I say, not as I do" politician.
Where does he get off talking about ethical behavior? Didn't he understand what Senior Federal Judge Thomas McAvoy wrote about him?
And now we are expected to vote for his wife for Town Board?
    I don't think so.

    1. Any vote for Maryann Matters is nothing but more of the same as her husband. He is/has been a "do nothing" board member since the day he was elected.

    2. But he's never voted for a tax increase!

Fee increase, are a whole different story - never met 1 he didn't like!
