Guest Post

And the question of the day is....WHY??  Do any of you wonder why the Cristo and Taylor continue to beat the same drum OVER and OVER and OVER again?  Does anyone out there seriously think they are that enraged over the way salaries were allocated in the town?  It just doesn't add up.

> Let's look at this rationally.  The salaries in question are not inflated, unreasonable or illegal.  Seethruny reflects the actual amounts paid to all the town employees, including those who received the "secret" stipends.  It is difficult to understand how a salary dispensed on a public payroll can be termed "secret".  By giving out stipends, Rick McCabe followed a procedure put in place many moons before him.  A procedure followed by his predecessors, both Republican and Democrat.  Rick didn't question this practice and that is his mistake.  Thereafter, Toni Murphy committed the unspeakable crime of cashing her paycheck without first reviewing town law.  Who among you couldn't have innocently done the same?

> If you have a problem with what Rick and Toni have done, don't vote for them.  But why is it that Mike Cristo can call Toni a thief for merely accepting her paycheck, but will not acknowledge his own attempt to violate the law by holding concurrent seats on the Town Board and on the County Legislature?  Dare we give him proper credit and say that maybe Mike Cristo didn't know it would be a violation of the law to hold both seats?  And better yet, if he did, maybe he wouldn't have tried to do it?  Does this make him a criminal looking to "help himself" to our tax dollars?

> So why do they persist?  Is it for the good of the town, or is personal?  Sadly, it is personal anger and venom driving that train (you know the one they claim is chugga chugga choo chooing into Town Hall?).  As far as Ann Taylor is concerned, she won't accept the fact that she lost two elections because she is rude and unlikeable.  The people of this town just don't want a nasty, vindictive person like her on the board.  But, instead of looking within, Ann is blogging away and blaming everyone in Town Hall.  It is almost as if she's angry that she can't have the job she wanted, but would somehow feel a whole lot better if Corinne Sheldon were to unseat Toni Murphy.  That seems healthy, doesn't it?

> The Cristo interest in perpetuating the vitriol is just as blatant.  They refuse to distinguish (political) business from personal matters.  Instead of taking the political hit when the lawsuit was filed, maintaining their decent reputation, and waiting for the County to change the law, Mike and his mom took up the charge of insulting the crap out of anybody and everybody who didn't swing the sword on their behalf.  Aside from uniting the town in a cry of ABC-FEG, what did they accomplish?  A shorter Christmas card list?

> In sum, rational people recognize that the "secret stipend" issue is not nearly as exciting as it seems.  There is no FBI investigation, no attorney general investigation, no OSC investigation.  If there were something there, the public would have heard about it by now.  Despite what Ann's imaginary friends (you know, Kate et al) would have you believe, Democrats in Albany have enough to worry about and certainly aren't spending valuable time quashing investigations into East Greenbush.  This is a dead issue folks.

REMEMBER TO FLY THE FLAG!!

Update:  According to Melvin Roads American Legion Post #1231 website, their ceremony is scheduled for this Sunday at 1:00PM not 12:00 Noon as posted below.  http://www.melvinroads1231.org/

East Greenbush Town Board Joins September 11 Remembrance

Ten years ago this Sunday, on September 11, 2001, America was attacked.  Each and every one of us remembers where we were when we first heard of the attacks.  We remember the shock, confusion and fear that we felt at that very moment.  This all pales in comparison to what the passengers aboard the planes and the workers in the buildings felt.
  • Two planes were flown into New York City's World Trade Center, killing 2,753 people, including 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 8 private emergency medical technicians and paramedics.
  • A third plane was flown into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia where 184 people perished.
  • A fourth plane, believed to be targeting either the Capitol Building or the White House, crash
No one survived any of the flights.

The east greenbush town board, As a memorial and tribute to those who perished so needlessly at the hands of cowards, asks that all businesses and residents of east greenbush PROUDLY DISPLAY 'OLD GLORY' ON SEPTEMBER 9, 10 AND 11.

The east greenbush town BOARD ALSO asks that we REMEMBER THOSE WHO WORKED TIRELESSLY IN THE RESCUE AND SADLY, the RECOVERY EFFORTS FOLLOWING THE ATTACKS.

show the victims and survivors of that tragic day, as well as their families, that they are not and will not be forgotten.

Memorial Observances:

Melvin Roads American Legion Post #1231 (200 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush) will be conducting a Memorial Service at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, 9/11/11.  The public is welcome.

The Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights (163 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush) will be hosting an area-wide Memorial Fire of Remembering at the plaza of the Church (http://www.stmaryny.org/) which will burn throughout the day.
  • Civic and other groups will be able to utilize the plaza fire for their own memorial activities between 4:00PM and 6:45PM.
  • A Mass & Ritual Memorial will be held at 7:00PM
Other Information:

The NYS Museum (Monday - Saturday, 9:30AM - 5:00PM) has FDNY Engine 6, which was among the first responders to answer the call on 9/11, on permanent exhibit.  Engine 6 was specially designed to pump water through standpipes to fight fires in skyscrapers, particularly the World Trade Center.  The FDNY donated Engine 6 to the State Museum in early 2002.  http://www.nysm.nysed.gov/wtc/rescue/pumper.html

Update on Irene Recovery Efforts in Rensselaer County

Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen M. Jimino is again urging all residents who sustained damage to their homes to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) by calling 1-800-621-3362 or by registering online at www.fema.gov. All homeowners and renters who sustained property damage or loss should register. The kits are being distributed by the County and Red Cross to the heavily damaged neighborhoods throughout the County. The kits are also available for pick up at the Averill Park High School Bus Garage located on Tremont Way in the Town of Averill Park.
