Guest Post

And the question of the day is....WHY??  Do any of you wonder why the Cristo and Taylor continue to beat the same drum OVER and OVER and OVER again?  Does anyone out there seriously think they are that enraged over the way salaries were allocated in the town?  It just doesn't add up.

> Let's look at this rationally.  The salaries in question are not inflated, unreasonable or illegal.  Seethruny reflects the actual amounts paid to all the town employees, including those who received the "secret" stipends.  It is difficult to understand how a salary dispensed on a public payroll can be termed "secret".  By giving out stipends, Rick McCabe followed a procedure put in place many moons before him.  A procedure followed by his predecessors, both Republican and Democrat.  Rick didn't question this practice and that is his mistake.  Thereafter, Toni Murphy committed the unspeakable crime of cashing her paycheck without first reviewing town law.  Who among you couldn't have innocently done the same?

> If you have a problem with what Rick and Toni have done, don't vote for them.  But why is it that Mike Cristo can call Toni a thief for merely accepting her paycheck, but will not acknowledge his own attempt to violate the law by holding concurrent seats on the Town Board and on the County Legislature?  Dare we give him proper credit and say that maybe Mike Cristo didn't know it would be a violation of the law to hold both seats?  And better yet, if he did, maybe he wouldn't have tried to do it?  Does this make him a criminal looking to "help himself" to our tax dollars?

> So why do they persist?  Is it for the good of the town, or is personal?  Sadly, it is personal anger and venom driving that train (you know the one they claim is chugga chugga choo chooing into Town Hall?).  As far as Ann Taylor is concerned, she won't accept the fact that she lost two elections because she is rude and unlikeable.  The people of this town just don't want a nasty, vindictive person like her on the board.  But, instead of looking within, Ann is blogging away and blaming everyone in Town Hall.  It is almost as if she's angry that she can't have the job she wanted, but would somehow feel a whole lot better if Corinne Sheldon were to unseat Toni Murphy.  That seems healthy, doesn't it?

> The Cristo interest in perpetuating the vitriol is just as blatant.  They refuse to distinguish (political) business from personal matters.  Instead of taking the political hit when the lawsuit was filed, maintaining their decent reputation, and waiting for the County to change the law, Mike and his mom took up the charge of insulting the crap out of anybody and everybody who didn't swing the sword on their behalf.  Aside from uniting the town in a cry of ABC-FEG, what did they accomplish?  A shorter Christmas card list?

> In sum, rational people recognize that the "secret stipend" issue is not nearly as exciting as it seems.  There is no FBI investigation, no attorney general investigation, no OSC investigation.  If there were something there, the public would have heard about it by now.  Despite what Ann's imaginary friends (you know, Kate et al) would have you believe, Democrats in Albany have enough to worry about and certainly aren't spending valuable time quashing investigations into East Greenbush.  This is a dead issue folks.

  1. I think our present administration is doing a fine job and will send my votes to reflect that.

Ann and Mike are just a couple of haters that are plain old pi$$ed off that things did not go their way.

I am amused by Mike's new thread that, no doubt, was put up to try to take the heat off of Ann's stupidity in putting up her thread.

They both might try minding their own business...for the sake of the Republican candidates. Win or lose - it should be on their own merits or lack thereof.

  2. Fritz....With regard to payment of salaries, the requirements of Section 27 of NYS Town Law are the internal controls which specify that the amounts to be paid be listed by person with the budget. Any additions require an additional resolution and/or local law. SeeThruNY reports after the fact.

The stipends were secret because they were not disclosed before the fact. And they were even denied while they were going on. Remember Mc'Cabe's statement that he had never taken so much as a dime for mileage? And then his excuse for his stipend was extra hours (for a salaried person?) and mileage. Just doesn't wash.

  3. Well said Fritz!

    Vote the Four Ms!!!!

Meanwhile, Leg. Cristo is pontificating about "The Dangers of the Tax Cap" stating that

"The tax cap can be over ridden by a super majority. Meaning that if the same board were to return and felt the need to raise taxes MORE than 2%, they could do it with four votes, (you need 60% to over ride)."

    Per the State Comptroller:
"This override vote requires a 60 percent vote of the total voting power of the governing body to pass."

Back when I went to school, 60% of 5 was 3, a simple majority not a "super majority". (Good thing for all that Leg. Cristo's not on the County Budget & Finance Committee).

Evidently to stir things up, he then hypothesizes about a "7% tax increase". I respectfully suggest that he wait until the "Tentative Budget" is public rather than speculate on a tax increase at this point in time.

I'm glad to see Leg. Cristo finally admit that "Getting out of junk bond status does not happen over night and takes some serious work to get back to a good place." We agree on that point.

  4. So tell us Pete, did Little Ornery Annie post the comment you submitted? I am thinking no. Her coverup of Corinne's termination from EGSD is almost as pathetic as last years post where she tried to explain away the fact that she was spotted at a local motel. Remember that one?

Leg. Cristo is apparently too busy slandering and embellishing to worry about specifics ! < slinging mud is one of his best personal traits >
He can't possibly be questioned, he is MIKE CRISTO after all - beyond reproach and purveyor of nothing but the truth ! and...btw: what are his accomplishments as a County Legislator ? I can't think of any original ideas of his- he hangs off the shirt tales of the others- pretty much a worthless politician huh!?!? Not much different than when he was a Town Councilman - worthless and pretty much just along for the ride! It is our understanding that he doesn't even have the support of his colleagues in the County Legislature either - WOW- !!!

Once again - when do we get to vote his a** out of office again ? This self-indulging egotistical little man has got to go - but then again - some people never learn.

Thanks for thinking of me, though.

  9. No problem Pete. I am more than happy to discuss Corinne Sheldon's termination from EGCSD in this thread. Ann's blind support of her is further proof that she is on a personal vendetta against Toni. Corrine is a terrible candidate and DeFruscio shouldn't waste another dime on her.

  11. Anon @ 11:23. I don't disagree with your first paragraph. If you are not satisfied with the current administration's explanation regarding the stipends, then show your displeasure by voting the other way. But, Anon, you sound like a reasonable person: Do you really think Rick and Toni deserve to be called DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY repeatedly by Ann Taylor? Do you think it is fair for Ann Taylor to accuse Toni of "using personal tragedies to get votes?" Do Rick and Toni deserve Ann's accusation yesterday that they helped themselves to taxpayer dollars for drinking money? My point is that this is not about stipends. This is just a personal attack by two sad jealous people. Cristo and Taylor are using low brow bullying tactics no more sophisticated than scribbling on the bathroom walls in high school. Accordingly, their opinions and endorsements regarding the upcoming election should be carefully scrutinized.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Fritzie.... I know you'd just love to have the matter addressed on a "personal" level and be able to assign "motive" to participants in the discussion. It's a common tactic in argument.

The fact is that the law was violated in the disbursement of the stipends. "Precedent" does not remove the requirements of the law, and ignorance of the law is no excuse. The Town employs "legal talent" at the expense of the taxpayer. When it is possible for the Supervisor to cause disbursement of taxpayer funds by picking up the phone or writing a note when the law requires other procedures, we have a problem. This administration has demonstrated a propensity to NOT ASK THE QUESTION about legality. Stipends, Benko, MOA, etc.

I think your "guest post" pleads "ignorant innocence" or "innocent ignorance." Whichever....

  14. The problem with our town board is that they represent the town employees only. Every decision made with regard to the budget is about pension credits and keeping the union happy. How can the town be 2 million in debt after the windfall a couple years ago with the reassessment? Answer- pension obligations for town employees. $180,000 contractor paid as W2 and pension credit for retirement and not 1099 is a crime.

  15. 1025 - you keep deflecting Fritz' point and arguing your own point of view. You fail to acknowledge the "low brow tactics" of your people- yet you keep driving home the "law was violated" thing.
You would think that after last November , when the People of East Greenbush pretty much told you that your point of view doesn't matter to them - you continue on this path of throwing around your political catch phrases and mud . Granted - you do keep it clean which is why your posted here.
The original guest post isn't necessarily looking to assign a "personal" level - it simply looks to bring it to peoples attention - again your view point is 180 from ours and many others.
Ignorant innocence or innocent ignorance are your versions of what you read. Others feel differently - as last years election clearly showed.
You are , however , entitled to your opinion and it will post here -( unlike Taylor) so long as its clean. Which reminds me: why is she so afraid to post opposite opinions on her blog??

  16. Talks..... Your point would hold if it weren't for your own history. Particularly the material that was deleted.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Talks.... There is an interesting thread in both your argument and Fritzie's, and that is that a (local and narrow) election result somehow nullifies a law of the State of New York. You're probably too young to remember the issues of nullification and interposition in the deep south which prevented the exercise of civil rights by a minority. Fortunately, we are a nation of laws, so you or anybody else doesn't get to nullify a law by attempting to interpret the results of a local election. Two different venues my friend. Sometime when your ox is being gored, you'll appeal for the protection of law when some around you don't give a flying F.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Where did Fritz or Talks say it is okay to violate the law? I think they are just saying Crisco & Failure are jackasses.

    ReplyDelete
  19. OK Dwight. I'll remember that.

  20. Frank, I'm thinking the other DJ.

Also thinking M & A and their motley crew don't just sling mud they wallow in it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Rosecrud....by asserting that nobody cared (locally) that stipends were illegal. This theme has been present for a while, like nobody cares so forget about about it. Until it becomes too costly to violate the law, violation of the law will continue. I simply can't understand how people will condone the violation of the law if they have any understanding about what it does to community life. And I'll go so far as to involve my friend Jack Conway here as a professional sociologist. Jack, what does it do to a community when citizens purposefully ignore the violation of laws enacted to preserve the commonweal? If we can't insist on the observance of the law (and by that I don't mean just "watching"), how can we have a community?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anon,

Stipends were paid and accepted in good faith with the belief they were legal due to the years of past practice.

While this may not make them any more palatable to some, there was no conspiracy to defraud the town or taxpayers.

Remember, it's an alleged violation and the act has stopped.

  24. SIMPLE - VOTE THE STABLE AND FUNCTIONING TEAM OF MCCABE,MANGOLD,MURPHY AND MALONE. NO NEED TO MUDDY THE WATERS - CHOSE THE TEAM THAT IS FUNCTIONING AND WORKING FOR EAST GREENBUSH !

    ReplyDelete
  25. We should never ignore a violation of the law. The practice has been abandoned and that there was no intentional misconduct. If you think the elected officials responsible for the stipends should pay a price, then vote against them. And while I know it would make about 3 people in the town really happy to see Toni Murphy or Rick McCabe removed from Town Hall in "bracelets" as Chris DeFruscio promised, it just isn't going to happen.

Nobody was handed money in a brown paper bag and nobody was compensated excessively. In fact, it is very likely that the relevant salaries would have been raised traditionally if the stipend procedure had not been used. And PLEASE oh PLEASE stop believing Cristo's crap about being kept in the dark. He is not an honest man.

For what it is worth, I am grateful for the dialog here. I know we will never agree, but I do appreciate the consideration of and responses to my post. If those of you who truly care about the future of this town (as I do) would distance yourselves from the Cristo-Taylor toxicity we could make progress. I have a feeling my friend Jack Conway would agree with that as well.

    ReplyDelete
  26. for what it's worth - the idiots over there are calling anyone who supports the current admnistration "losers" . And they wonder why people hate them so much? Its mostly Failure-Taylor - she's pretty obvious in her writing style!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Can't stand Ann Taylor - she's a fraud and people are keenly aware of her vicious temper. Corine was truley given the kiss of death when Taylor spoke up in her favor. No one I know of would dream of supporting any of the Denfruscio,Christoid backed candidates!
They're all hand-picked dupes with no political experience and no idea wha they're getting into - which means they will answer to Christoid - who was and is a complete failure in polics and still to this very day has on idea what he's doing. He uses big words in a feeble attempt to baffle dupes around East Greenbush into thinking he may have a slight bit of knowledge of anything. People simply don't realize how totally inadequate the repooblican candidates are.

    ReplyDelete
  28. With the Repub candidates, you get Defruscio and his cast of dispicable classless characters. That is the bottom line. Does anyone remember when he unsuccessfully ran for town board? Does anyone remember him trying to speak(?) debate at the library? It was unbeleievable. And, my god, what did we ever do without Corrine Sheldon who has alllllll the answers. She really should have done her homework and research so as to spare her the embarrassment when that whole credit card/online payment is intelligently, factually explained by the class act of Toni Murphy. Keep hanging with Ann Taylor, Corrine. Great move, speaks volumes about you. Oh, and thanks to Bonnie who goes door to door advocating for the Repub candidates. Ha!!! Thank you Bonnie!!!!! We are lovin the feedback!!! Oh, and then there is Langley who is trying to secure votes by stating he's best buds with Reggie and Joe at the transfer station. Sleaziness at its best. You are nothing more than another customer at the transfer station. Good try though. Desperation setting in already. Vote for experience, class, endless energy and intelligence....McCabe, Murphy, Malone and Mangold. Every one of them, their appointees and the entire workforce of the Town are working above and beyond for the good of this Town and residents know it. Row A all
the Way!!!!!!! We are moving forward and everyone loves it. Take your negativity elsewhere, life is way too short.

  29. Been telling them over there to take it back to their own , but they keep trying to put in their slanted comments here. Do any of you lurkers from over there think that anyone who supports this blog cares what you think or what your opinion is? Are you that arrogant ? - or is it ignorance ?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I have not looked at this blog or the other one in a year. So tonight, just for the heck of it, I thought I would take a look at "Talks". The same old stuff. Can't any of you talk about something with substance? And 11:53am states that nobody cares what the other blog people think or what their opinion is. I beg to differ -- all of these comments except for a couple are still directed at Cristo-Taylor -- I would think by now they would be old news. At least there was one comment taking shots at the newest crop of do-nothing republicans.
What I think is that the Town Dems and the County Reps, not to mention some Dems in high places are in cahoots to keep the current administration et al. in office because it suits their needs. And it will continue to go that way until Greenbush becomes more than a bedroom community to the majority of intelligent professionals who only sleep here. So I don't know why you guys sound so stressed at times. The tiny little world you live in is safely stored in your pockets and it ain't gonna budge. I imagine you won't print this as it is so long.

  32. One persons view of the upcoming elections.

Our present 5 Town Board members are firing on all cylinders. The board realizes what needs to be done to move the town forward.
Our newest members have gained valuable experience and have made a number of contributions in
the short time they have been on the board.

The Republican/Conservative candidates, while I hear they are nice people, what will they bring to the table?

Keith Langley-never attended a board meeting - none, never been involved with any function of the town, hasn't even
taken the time to address or even meet the present board members, no experience or understanding of what is necessary
    to run the town.

Dan Fiacco-successful businessman in town and would have to abstain from votes -something for which Sue Mangold has
been criticized, attended a couple of board meetings, no experience or understanding on what it takes to run a town. A Town Board
seat takes a lot of committment.

Ed Gilbert-regularly attends board meetings, good guy but too easily influenced by Cristo,Taylor group. Good intentions but a
lot to learn. Again - no experience.

Corine Sheldon-Taking the Ann Taylor path, - job here, job there, everyone elses fault, spin, spin, spin.

Just my thoughts - waiting for replies - what do you think?

  34. Come and Get my Vote .......October 06, 2011 2:40 PM

I find it kind of cute how Mike Cristo started a new thread on his blog to put some heat on him and to try to take it off of Ann Taylor.
It has been suggested that Ann put her foot in her mouth stating Corine resigned to spend more time on the family business.

Well, truth or not, it is spreading around town that Corine either had to resign or be terminated. One way to clear the air is let's have Corine
go on Ann's blog and put her reputation on the line and tell us if she had to resign or be terminated. Corine, your word will be good enough for me if you
can honestly state it was your choice and there was no pressure whatsoever from the school.

Let's clear this up if you can. Oh yeah, one other question - if you resigned because your family business needed your attention-when will you get
the time to be receiver of taxes?

I have a right to have these questions answered if you want my vote.

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  35. Unfortunately I dont think anyone in politics can be honest. Knowing Corine and her attitude at school, she too busy licking her wounds and too prideful to admit.. "Hey I made a mistake and HAD to resign" But also I'd like to know what business? She told us who worked with her that her husband works for a dump truck company.
It was the attitude that she had towards others. She complained about everything, and wouldn't help out unless forced too.

  36. Are we going to look at the Condo/O'Brien toilet habits next? You people are shameful.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Let's have a debate, put all 4 against each other let's see what the candidates really have, all the questions can then be answered without interferences!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Debate with candidates who have zero knowledge about how the Town operates? Quite frankly , that's not fair to Gilbert or Fiacco.
They are clearly taking their marching orders from Defruscio, Taylor and Cristo.
If anyone , on either side of the political isle, thinks for one fleeting moment that Gilbert or Fiacco are going to be allowed to think for themselves - guess again people. This campaign is being deliberately interferred with by Ann Taylor and Mike cristo - that is a FACT - confirmed by people who were present for the actual conversations. Taylor is clearly hoping one of them will drop out so she can throw her name back in the race- she has openly stated that neither Gilbert or Fiacco are running a "dirty enough" campaign for her liking. She also told them that if they didn't start "slinging some mud" there would be no financial help for their campaigns this year either! Kinda sound familiar people??
The Republican Party has clearly been hi-jacked by people who : #1) are NOT true Republicans #2) clearly have an alternate agenda not condusive to moving East Greenbush forward #3) if anyone from over there , you lurkers , think for one fleeting moment that what I've said is a lie - go do your own investigation. - you've been openly lied to and intentionally misled by your savior - Ann Taylor and her boy-toy Cristo. Defruscio is a dupe being led around by Taylor and clearly has NO idea what he's doing! Prove me wrong if you can !

    ReplyDelete
  39. Figures - she just can't stay out of this and let Dan and Ed run without her continual interference. They are learning what alot of others already know - Taylor and now Sheldon are damaged goods.

  40. Temper-( failure/taylor) thinks she has unveiled one of her famous "Ah-hah" moments again.
Does anyone proof read her babbling bullsh*t? Don't any of you bufoons over there realize that the deal for the water between EGB and Renns was in the work for months before you idiots thought you knew anything? Don't you "wanna be's" even think for one fleeting moment that you had anything to do with it - YOU DIDN'T! You obviously have no clue that the business of the town continues and goes on and just because you may have to foil something doesn't mean you "discovered" something or that you necessitated further action.
Your arrogance and your continual day dreaming are almost laughable!
No wonder no one votes for you freaks - you dream like juveniles - you've not unearthed anything , you've made no startling revelations - you've got no "C'mon man" moment other than making yourselves look like the rookies you truley are!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Is she kidding with yet another "C'mon man"? Did someone tell her that was cute?
Can we get a "What Say You"?

    How about an "Amen"!

    ReplyDelete
  42. 6:39....You'd be wise to go back and read Resolution 97-2011 from the May Board meeting. It says clearly that EG had been "carrying the water" so to speak for Rensselaer since June of 2008, and that Rensselaer appears to be in arrears to the tune of more than half a Million. The Resolution discusses a "formalization" of that debt. Three years is a long time for something like this to be "in the works" doncha think???

You keep popping off about knowing how to run a Town, but its so much BS I'd say. You and yours need to be relieved of any authority over financial activities - for the good of all of us - even you.

    ReplyDelete
  44. and turn the financial activities over to exactly who?? You and yours ??? So you can run the Town into the ground? You couldn't manage your grandkids savings accounts , and you want to run the financials and every day activities of the busiest Town in Rensselaer County!?! That's laughable! The water contract was in the works for years - remember when Troy was going to shut the water off to Rensselaer -- oh maybe about three to four years ago? East Greenbush stepped up and stopped all that- did you conveinently forget that? You have nothing for arguments - you embellish small , inconsequential facts and try to make a tidal wave out of a drop of water. Your pathetic!
This isn't some television talk show- you and yours have absolutely no idea what your saying or doing and it clearly shows! Thats why you get beat !

    ReplyDelete
  45. And 8:02....just how have you and yours done??? Good financial management is not rocket science, yet you and yours have driven this little piece of heaven into the ground with your graft and corruption. Read an audit report or two.

    ReplyDelete
  46. OK 8:02.....Just what did we in EG get "on the record" for saving Rensselaer's ass? Somebody put EG taxpayer's faith and credit on the line and forgot to memorialize the liability, right? Hey....I guess it's just friends and neighbors....

You and yours ran the town into the ground and turn around and try to collect credit for efforts to shape up the management. Very sad piece of work, I'd say. Just trying to hang on to your government stipend, eh Mikey??

    ReplyDelete
  47. 3:52 And where do "graft and corruption" appear in the audits? Strong words for a weak argument.

  49. How Do You Spell D E L U S I O N A LOctober 11, 2011 8:11 AM

The Republicans celebrating their primary victory is a little confusing to anybody that actually knows how it works. They were given the Independent and Conservative lines. The Democrats had to actually do a write-in vote to challenge those lines. Guess what????
The Democratic team was successful and won the Independent line by a comfortable margin. The Republicans challenged the Working family line given to the Democrats and lost.

By my way of counting - the Dems defended the Working Family and won the Independent line. Republicans defended Conservative line and lost the other lines. Score - 2-1 Dems...

The Republican victory celebration on October 14th should really be the Primary election defeat. You do the math, maybe Don Johnson can help if it's too difficult for you Reformers.

  57. For all the nasty things being said over there...I would be too embarassed to print them if I was Ann and Mike...

Clearly the voters thought Phil was tons better than either of them!

  59. I believe the monstrosity if front of Field and Teams has some serious irony. That business has has it own issues in fulfilling customer orders and not living up to promises. So the sheer irony of the big electronic monstrosity in front of their business is a complete joke. Just like those in napoleon and josephines little house. Election day can not come soon enough!

  61. NOTHING that Denfruscion can do will be of any help come November. The voters in East Greenbush are and will be well aware of the tactics of these faux republicans. They aren't real Republicans - they are transient power hungry morphs that have hi-kacked the weak, left over Republican party in Town. They are trying extremely hard to disguise the truth of the real intent they have, but many, many people are already on the the foolish banter and false promises. They aren't fooling anyone
