Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.

On November 30, we’re asking residents to "Shop Small" at their favorite local stores and help fuel the economy. When we all shop small, it will be huge.  http://smallbusinesssaturday.com/

DEFRUSCIO is the plague and he's out of his f-ing mind and delusional as he has annointed himself the "President of East Greenbush " !

You freaks let him in power - now deal with the fallout !
Langley is incompetent and a gutless leader.
Defruscio, Tirino , Mulvey and the other morons will run this town into the ground and its all you "reformers" fault !
You thought you were electing Matters and Dimartino - !?
    HAH !!!
You enabled Defruscio to walk thru the door and bottom out our town. THANKS FOR NOTHING !
Hang onto your hats people - The President of East Greenbush is on the move and he's drunk with power !

    1. Dear anonymous.....So the Town was better off with Presidents Maney and Malone? Gimme a break. The previous majority's management led to an accounting condition that is requiring two accounting firms to straighten out. They escaped some serious fall-out by the skin of their teeth. If DeFruscio is up to the same thing, the same fate awaits. All he will be preparing for is a third party citizens initiative to replace his operation.

This Town needs to be freed once and for all from machine politics - whether it has an R or D label on it. We can't afford it anymore, and more and more people are realizing that. Local government doesn't exist to fund the retirements of a select few.

    2. You say 'The previous majority's management led to an accounting condition that is requiring two accounting firms to straighten out.'

Who was the comptroller from 2010-2012? Who appointed him? Cristo Danaher and Matters!

Put your blame where it lies.

Why is Langley now delaying the audit?

    3. Your stuck Don - you screwed up and now you realize it but don't know how to fix it.
Langley is completely inept and ignorant. Defruscio is out of control and poor Dimartino and Matters are the silent majority.
Nice - glad you at least are starting to see the light with the new "President of East Greenbush". ! lmao

    4. ZIP, you don't seem to understand the scenario. The previous administration is out because of the mischief that had their fingerprints on it. We're not going to have them back.

If the R's are as you say, they will be out because of the mischief that has their fingerprints on it. We won't have them back either.

I wouldn't be surprised if DeFruscio thinks that he hijacked the reform movement to his advantage, but the fact is that somebody had to beat the Dem machine in an election. The "Rs" think they won on their own steam, but they didn't. They were totally dead meat until some of us decided to see what we could do about cleaning up local government. If they make it dirty again, we'll do the same to them.

    5. But oh Yes I do understand. I was born and raised right here - along with Defruscio. I have known what a total tool he is for years. He's a criminal and you've ALL been warned by too many of us to mention. You arrogantly chose to ignore the truth.
Langley is a complete fool. Your title of mischief is misplaced and completely wrong. There is no "Dem machine". There was a dem majority - no machine. This is East Greenbush - not Albany or NYC.

The "mischief" you allude to will be childs play compared to what is about to happen under the Defruscio controlled Town Board. The good thing is that there are many of us with our eyes wide open and watching - every day ! You screamed and demanded no tax increase. Well, Langley and Defruscio have already guaranteed a tax increase and there's more to come for sure !
People elected Dimartino and Matters for two years. They will be useless and powerless unless people step up and demand Defruscio go away - immediately. -( Rich Crist , are you listening ?)
There's no way we can prepare you for whats coming. You insist reform is doing the right thing. I am content to sit here , wait and prove you wrong.
We shall see the first round of foolishness on January 2nd when Langley releases the "defruscio plan" for the start of what is sure to be the immediate destruction of functionality in Town Hall. Unqualified and incompetent people will be placed in positions of great necessity and the games will begin. More than half of those being proposed for employment after January 2 are utterly incompetent and unemployable elsewhere due to their criminal histories or they can't pass a simple drug test !
For the sake of east Greenbush as a whole, thankfully its only two years before order will be restored and the criminals driven out and away .

This Town deserves better than a trade of political machines. Can't we have something for the people's interest Chris?"

Keith Langley has been the Town Supervisor and CFO for the last two years. He has a better grasp of the Town's finances than anyone in and outside of Town government. He has reviewed the AUDs and he has prepared the last two Town Budgets. Who else would you suggest handle these important negotiations? Keith has the knowledge, experience and voter mandate to effectively negotiate these contracts. The voters elected the Langley majority in the November elections by an overwhelming margin. They seem to be very comfortable with the way Keith is handling this. If you don't agree with them, why don't you speak up at Town Board meetings and/ or stop by Town Hall and share your concerns with Keith?
As far as Defruscio goes, Keith is entitled to consult with anyone he pleases. He is also entitled to appoint Defruscio to any governmental position he pleases."

  12. Lets be very clear about a couple of things that people may not be aware of.

1st - all new employees are in tier 6 of the retirement system- thats a fact.
2nd- there has been no raise the past few years and none projected in the near future - fact .
3rd - excepting the recent DPW hire - there has been no added hires except to fill vacancies - but even then , most departments are understaffed and lagging in hires, unfortunately resulting in some OT to cover emergencies and illness/injuries.
Smart Way Forward will need to step up to the learning curve and learn about how to deal with Union Contracts and how to effectively negotiate. Something that Ercole has virtually no idea how to do - obviously.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Until you do a workload analysis and actively supervise and monitor that workload, how do you know how many people need to be employed? There was an "OT burning party" at DPW last December to use up unspent but budgeted OT money. That's outrageous.

      Delete
    2. OK - do a workload analysis - do it based upon what ? "Normal" days don't exist in municipal jobs. You can do a workload analysis on "static" jobs , but it would be hard to be accurate and give a fair opinion on DPW or Law Enforcement occupations. Nice thought but doesn't actually work all that well and would not be accurate .

      Delete
    3. 7:41PM thats not true. They had a Union Christmas Party.

      Delete
    4. 8:32: Just because there's no schedule of crimes or weather events doesn't mean you can't do a workload analysis of DPW or the police department. They are done all the time and, in fact, the current staffing of our DPW and PD are based on somebody's idea of what is needed to do the job. There's no doubt that some days will have an unusual amount of incidents that require the police's attention or abnormal amounts of snowfall but you don't staff 365 days a year for things that only happen once or twice. What we need is a systematic public assessment of the proper staffing levels for town departments. It might turn out that we need more people rather than less. But the fact that people get paranoid when a workload analysis is proposed implies that they believe we are overstaffed and a fair analysis will cost people their jobs. If that's the case - and I'm not saying it is, only that we don't know - then the taxpayers have a right to this information.

      Delete
    5. Jack's absolutely right, and is to be commended for stating the issues so clearly. Workload analysis is done all the time by administrators and managers who know what they are doing. It's common practice in the private sector where the issue of profit is on the front burner. The problem in government is that there is always access to the tax levy, most often unmonitored by those paying the bills.

    Dave VanWormerDecember 31, 2013 at 8:48 AM
Today I found out what I have suspected for a month or so: I will not be retained in my position of Commissioner of Public Works for 2014. I suspected this was going to happen, even after having been told by my friend Keith Langley, over and over, that he would never allow it to happen. While in his office, pointing at the picture of his family, he would say, "This is what it's all about Dave, family. I would never hurt your family." He made the same assertion in my office, pointing at the picture of my family, on my desk. You see, Keith and I became friends soon after he became Supervisor. We had many lunches together, usually 2-3 times per week. I would stop by his office, or he would stop by my office. I used to drive him around town, showing him the inner workings of the town, showing him what the guys were working on and what I had planned. I took a lot of heat from members of my party for being so close to him. They told me this was gonna happen, but I said it wouldn't, cuz Keith seemed like a stand up guy. He says he just wants to do whats right for the Town. They told me, "You're crazy if you believe that, you'll be gone the first chance he gets". Wow, were they right!

Don't get me wrong, I knew what I was getting into when I took the job as commissioner. It's a political appointment that could end when the power changes. But I had a window. When I left my secure job in the union workforce, I had a 1 year window to go back. That 1 year was ending when Keith was coming into office, so I consulted with him. "I've heard nothing but good things about you Dave, you'll be fine. I'm not looking to hurt anyone, " is what I was told. (As a matter of fact, that was his favorite line, as I hear he said it to a few others also.) So I stayed in the position. I figured if I did a good job, I'd be here for a while. I have been doing that job for 3 years now, with very good reviews, if I do say so myself. My office door was TRULY always open. Taxpayers always got a return phone call from me. It didn't matter what party you were in, or who you were affiliated with, I treated everyone the same. Many had my cell phone number, even though it was my own phone, not the town's. I never wanted a town phone. I used mine, the same phone that the dispatchers used to call me on at all hours of the night, because I wanted to know every time there was an emergency OT call. Previously, calls went to the foremen of the departments and they would check it out, on OT. I can't tell you how much money I saved the town by going out to check on a possible water break that turned out to be someone draining a pool. That's just 1 example.

I remember my salary being questioned, because I got a raise to $72,000, which was about half of what was being paid to previous full time commissioners and deputies. If you go to eastgreenbush.org you will find out, like I did, that I am being replaced by 2 men, at a cost of $116,000, without adding in benefits. Thats right, I found out I was being replaced by 2 people, by seeing it on the town website. Not from a phone call, email or even a text from the Supervisor. I was called by a friend and was told to look at the website. How's that for being a leader? I have fired and suspended people a few times, always face to face, always hard to do, but how it has to be done....like a man. As I told Mr. Langley's secretary today, this is not about not being retained (ok, maybe it is a little bit), it's how it was done. I have never seen such an act of cowardice in my life. I had to tell her, since he had bolted from Town Hall by the time i got there to see him.

Cow·ard·ice noun \ˈkau̇(-ə)r-dəs, dialect -(ˌ)dīs\: fear that makes you unable to do what is right or expected; lack of courage

    2. Isn't it illegal not to give them a letter or face them and tell them? How can he face them? He doesn't come out of his office and half the time he's not even there! For that matter have you seen him at a summer festival of any kind or the Town Hall Christmas parties; DPW included? He's a social misfit who doesn't deserve the position of Supervisor. Bring McCabe back! Impeach Langley!!

  45. So much for Deb DeMartino and Mary Ann Matters being independent and doing what is right and fair for the taxpayers and town employees. Neither one of them have the nerve to stand up to DeFruscio or Langley - a couple of scared little girls whos only agenda is that they can't stand Phil Malone. Keith, you will go down to a resounding defeat in two years - of that I am sure! Keith, you had a chance to to so much and yet you fell into the Ercole trap and will surely lose what you covet most - your $70,000 part-time job!

  46. I want my vote backJanuary 01, 2014 3:38 PM

I apologize to all the affected town employees that are losing their jobs. I was one that was fooled by Deb and MaryAnn's rhetoric that they were independent, free thinkers who only wanted to make our town better. They stood in my home and said "no game playing" - they were here for everyone. Now that they are elected, what do they do but go along with Langley and DeFruscio to try and destroy families by laying off hard working town employees in Town Hall and in the DPW.

This isn't a joke or a game - you are affecting the income and benefits of men, women and children for purely political reasons. While the Democrats are far from perfect, I personally will never vote for a Republican supported candidate again and God willing, no one in my family will either. You can only fool me once!

  47. WTF did any of you expect ?January 01, 2014 4:08 PM

And ... you-( we ) were all warned and told exactly what would happen !
It was never about Deb and Maryann....it was ALWAYS about Defruscio and his plan to literally destroy the town workforce and the people who support the Dems. Well, he won ! Now we all suffer because Langley is clueless and has no balls to stand up for himself.
24 months of the Defruscio dictatorship !
Remember East Greenbush - YOU VOTED FOR THIS !

  48. I like Danny Fiacco. Didn't vote for him , but I like him. I will hold out a tad bit of hope that he has morals and will do the right thing.
Word on the street is Anthony Corellis is only going to be around until his healthcare kicks in and then he disappears for surgery on the taxpayer dime for months.

  49. I hate having this premonition that nothing good will come of laying off those 4 DPW guys. A premonition that something bad may happen - I can understand laying off the ones in Town Hall; but to go to DPW workers; only to wait ONE year and put in your own cronies; or is it TWO years? What goes around WILL DEFINITELY come around; and that will be SWEET. Scary part - trusting Ercole with a gun, knowing damn well what kind of background he comes from? Will he be the next Guynup-Defruscio in Jail? They've all got that same ANGRY mind. Be careful people. He's NUTS.

    1. Do EG court attendants carry side arms? How does this fit with the NYS carry permit regulations? Seems pretty scary to me.

    2. Of course they carry side arms. I think there's a rule somewhere stating you need an officer of the court (OCA would know that) OR you have to take a class; I wouldn't say anything - let them do what they think is right for the good of the Town; and the morons are going to fail; they lie, Supe doesn't show up for work half the time, they lie somemore, they get their timesheets signed whether they work or not! Oh what it would be like to have a "cushy job" like that. Starts right at the Clerks office and it works its way down to the Supe's. The Court Clerks bust their ass; now that they've got Miss Lazy Pants back - it'll all be screwed up! I'm telling ya don't need to be there? She's going on VACA; aren't they supposed to start on Monday? When your handed everything, who needs to work? HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  50. Scary, indeed. Why do we have court attendants who have guns and badges? I see EG Police there as well (always two people sometimes at Sergeants salary}. Since it is becoming clear that both factions on the TB are not to be trusted, perhaps we should ask the to sitting judges to prepare a report on staffing in their courtrooms. The report could include recommendations on staffing levels, training requirements, and peace officer authority and status. the Judges are trusted individuals and would probably welcome the opportunity to have imput on their courts. Essentially, the court ain't broke, lets not have Chris fix Iit.
