Thank You East Greenbush Police

My  family  sat watching the  local news last evening at  11pm when  Jim Kambrich announced on Channel 13  that a  local  youth had been arrested  for  dealing  drugs.  The  story went on to say that he was a  Columbia High School student and that he had been charged after a  long investigation by local authorities.

Well,  I for one  would  like to publicly  thank the members of the East Greenbush Police for  taking this  individual off our  streets and out of our  school.    I learned this morning  that the  boy had made bail and  was  supposed to attend  Columbia today.  I would  hope  now  that  our  District Attornies office  will take  this matter  seriously  and  deal with this  problem.

For  years, I have been hearing about the  drug problem at Columbia High School.    I would hope that maybe our  legal team of  local law enforcement  and  the prosecutors at the  County level  will use this opportunity to send a  clear message to others  who think East Greenbush is  a  "free-trade zone"  for  narcotics , and  maybe they will now  think twice about introducing drugs into our  schools!

Congratulations to Chief Lavin and his  staff and  best of  luck with future investigations  such as  this  one,

  2. EGTALKS; does the PD have a "tips" line that people can call into anonymously?

I would imagine that some people may possibly avail themselves of such a tool if it was made public and available.

  3. My neice and nephew go to Columbia and they both said it is absurd that some of the students are actually making this little drug dealer out to be some sort of hero !?

What does it take to get the message across? A District Attorney with a spine? Maybe !
Maybe no plea deal would be best - but there's little or no chance of that. This kid needs a life lesson, not a lesson in plea bargaining.

  4. All depends on who is being investigated. Remember the Jillian's episode? Money talks.

  5. I don't remember any episode about Jillian's, and the EGPD or Rens Co. D.A. Naysayers sure find it easy to grab that broad brush and smear at any opportunity regardless of the distortion invloved.

Credit due for good work, period!

    Signed, Mack

  6. Waiting.......May 21, 2011 2:08 PM

Reformers from Camp Cristo will stop at nothing to smear and throw mud at anything positive because it doesn't fit into their plans.
On another note: Chris DenFruscio?!?! PUHLEEZ.....you guys make it so easy !!!

  7. Having seen some of these men and women in action I would say that we have some of the best in the area. I know I'm not always the most liked person over here, but I would like to thank all of the EGPD.

What it takes is for a criminal justice system with some guts. Guts enough to not let these kids off easy, stop giving them a slap on the wrist and give them a real punishment. I think the Albany PD did a wonderful job with the whole kegs and eggs fiasco, and it sure was nice to see the justice system go after these people lock stock and barrel instead of letting them off easy.

  8. 10:16- A district attorney with a spine, while essential, should be a last resort. I would hope our community can provide our kids with enough guidance so drugs aren't a problem in the first place and their is no need for a strong DA.

I wonder if the commenters here can go one post without mentioning Cristo or Taylor. Would you have anything to say at all if they dissappeared? Is this town in such bad shape you have NOTHING better to comment on?

  9. Nate; the police can only make the arrest - the District Attorney must be the one to fully prosecute and "punish" the offender - or at least make the appropriate recommendation to the judge for sentencing. This "kid" has decent parents - but that doesn't always suffice.

As far as your concerns for Camp Cristo and their people- the bottom line - they always find the negative in any thing concerning Town operations- if you think I'm wrong, please refer directly to the replies to some of your posts over there. They are so negative and some of their ridiculous mis-informing posts need to be addressed. Cristo himself is the author of some very misleading articles - articles that he had little or no fact based data to support any of his left-field rants.

  10. Nate;
Look above your post and you will see
7 post with 6 of them not mentioning Cristo or Taylor. What is it that you're trying to do, fan the flames? I really wonder about you.

  11. Also, if your so concerned about what we say about Cristo and Taylor, with specific regards to their continual condemnation of our Town Police Department, I suggets you go into their archives and read the propaganda written directly by Mike Cristo where he continually tried to disparage and condemn the Police Department for months prior to the 2010 election. Nate: I'm openly surprised at your post above - that you didn't take the time to research before you wrote.

  12. The parents are sometimes the problem here. What about accepting responsibility for actions! I love my children very much, but they are responsible for what they do. Make a mistake, fix it and accept the consequences. Too many parents make excuses for their children. Do the crime, do the time!

  13. Anony @ 11:52..... Instead of making an accusation without content, why don't you provide some actual quotes and give your assertion some content? Would make it more credible.

  14. Waiting, I agree that some of our neighbors see nothing but negative. Do you think your negativity will cancel out their negativity?

The town has SOO much going for it, that I find it hard to believe you think the best way to combat any negative from a resident, is to attack that resident with more negative.

Why not focus on the great job the parks task force is doing? Or the Finance Committee? New businesses in town? The meeting Matt Mastin and Co. had last night? The Library, Bruen, our Fire Houses? Miracle League, or any business in town.

As Steve points out it's only one or two comments per thread, but why do you even need one? Why focus on the negative when there is so much positive and beautiful going on around town that you could easily drown out any voice that tries to say otherwise.

To me, it seems like you can put the spotlight on the positive or the negative.

This story is an example, you bring up the great job by the police, then for no reason, you take the spotlight from those who deserve to be recognized and put it on those who those who don't.

The best of luck in whatever you decide.

  15. Perhaps you're referring to this article from the Troy Record from last October. Can hardly be laid on Cristo/Taylor as the origin.

  16. Nate: by now , you have a greater understanding of why and how the Town functions. The post above lists a web address from Camp Cristo. I encourage youto read it and digest the absolute cynicism written by Taylor and Cristo. If you know anything at all about personel issues and how they are delt with , specifically when there is a Union involved, you'll easily spot how completely out in left field Cristo truly is.
For you 3:32 - read that article as well - I rest my case.

  17. Waiting, I still fail to see where Cristo stands, justifies taking the spotlight away from our Police Force and the great job they did?

The other blog wishes me to paste this here... Maybe we can have a contest of who can insult Nate the worst...

    so have at it:

"More than common sense our society needs compromise and give and take. Something you don't exactly preach over here in reformland. Can you sacrifice your ego and play a role in this town without $10,000? Can you share your thoughts and opinions and be willing to accept that maybe they are not 'the will of the people' and share them regardless of success or failure because if there is one thing a democracy needs, is opposition, even opposition that will always lose the argument. I look forward to watching your answer."

  18. Boy Annie And Michael are sure upset with Nate. Looks like their taking turns scolding him!

  19. Nate- they can insult you all they want - they're good at it. I'm not looking to insult - just explain your questions- but apparently I've failed. I'll keep trying though. I've kept some of the slanderous authorings from Mike cristo and when I locate the most direct ones, I'll paste them in here for you to read.

  20. Nate: feel free to comment and criticize here...obviously Cristo and Taylor will censor you from here out. While we may not agree with you , and you'll get comments back and forth , we'll post your opinion.

Cristo and Taylor simply can't come to grips with the reality of Politics in East Greenbush. They are guessing and hoping that they're correct on several issues.

Once again, Cristo has resorted to big words and phrases because he has nothing else!

  21. Parade was better this year than past years.

  22. If every time one of those ignorant bigots spewed their sordid verbal effluent, reasonable people objected loudly and forcefully, I seriously doubt that these cowards would ever write their collective b-s on that joke of a blog.
The current load of crap coming out of camp cristo and taylor is completely overwhelming and way out of line so early in the summer before the election. Grow up and get a life !

  23. Waiting, my point comes down to, it doesn't matter how accurate or inaccurate Mike/Ann's comments are, is there nothing better to point out and focus on in town than Mike and Ann? That is what the Story will be focused on, we'll see how much I can find.

EGTalks, full disclosure, I did ask Ann to take down my comment. I made a reference to getting married in August, not realizing that opened me up to questions about my relationship, which is a line I am not willing to cross. I have no idea if it will impact future posting privileges on their site, that's up to them.

Timmy, I was at the parade with my Fiance, we both enjoyed it. We were at town hall so it took a while for the parade to get to us. Also, it looked like the parade did a loop on a side street?? It was a bit confusing from our perspective. I have pictures I'll post. I didn't see the board, I must have missed them

  25. I know most people don't read the reformer blog, but I happen to look at it once in a while for a chuckle. Here's an intersesting tid bit. The other day, they put up a thread titled, "so it begins", referring to the election and their 2 candidates, Dan Fiacco and Ed Gilvbert. Accordingly, a couple of their followers posted some some of their usual nonsense, and now the whole thread is gone. Is that the most disfunctional bunch of wanna be's ever or what? They have now idea what they're doing. My guess is that they jumped the gun.....again, and announced candidates that hadn't even agreed to run. Either that, or the announced candidates heard; "are you crazy?" so many times in the past couple of days that they realized what a huge mistake it would be to run with that bunch. If this is the case, smart move guys. Why spend alot of moneyand put your family through what is assured to be a nasty campaign, for an election you can't win?

  26. Nate, you are doing a wonderful job. You're very bright and knowledgeable and would make a great councilperson someday! You definitey have what it takes; you have a girlfriend who is sweet and I'm sure would applaud you every step of the way; unlike some people that need more than one g. friend to help their egos.
I commend you for your being so smart and in trying to make East Greenbush the wonderful town that it is. Keep up the good work; and stay away from Camp Cristo-Taylor.

  27. Maybe the candidates don't want to be linked to Cristo / Taylor.
