Fiacco and Gilbert - your thoughts please

Dan Fiacco and  Ed Gilbert .  OK  ...if that's what they and their  families agree is  best -  well best of  luck to them .....for  now.

With  E. Chris Defruscio now  apparently  leading  what is left of the  Republican party , we'll wait and see what the  first few items of political controversy are  coming  out  of  this  years campaign  will be.

What we know to be  fact is  this:  ALL the  foolishness  drummed up by the  reform party was ineffective in 2010.  The  false  accusations  and  trumped up  allegations from Taylor and Cristo turned more people away from them and they actually  lost  support  because of their ridiculous, arrogant behavior.

Sue Mangold and Phil Malone have been doing a  fantastic  job and the  Town Board is  functioning and the  Town is running  quite  well and  effectively.  All Town Departments are working to capacity, overtime is  down and  productivity is  up !

All of the above is because of the cooperative efforts of  McCABE, OBrien, Malone and  Mangold !!!    The nasty and  arrogant false accustions  still coming  from the  reformers and their losing  candidates have made no dent in the  affirmative and positive efforts  of  the  Supervisor and  Town Board.

For  Dan Fiacco and Ed Gilbert :  try to  stay positive in your  campaigns.  If you should  fail and  fall into the tangled  web of  deception that was so loosely woven by Taylor and Cristo,  you will be met by even more infuriated voters than they were.
There is no room in this  Town for the  foolish behavior  exhibited by Mike and Ann this past election.  A true  election decided by voters in Town who hear the  bona-fide solutions to the everyday problems  that actually  face the  Town by the  candidates and not the  mud-slinging crap that was  started by Cristo and  Taylor  would  truly be  refreshing !!  Think about it- an actual campaign based upon real  issues !  WOW!   That would be great !

Phil and  Sue  are  currently engaged in the  business of the  Town and many tasks have been undertaken with some having been completed ,  with more to come over the next few months.  This  town is moving  forward !

Best wishes to everyone  for a safe, enjoyable  summer !!!

  5. Dear Linda: I did not make the claim. Whomever created this posting stated that overtime is down. I assumed that representation was fact based and therefore sharing those facts would be both simple and easy. Aparently I struck a political nerve. Is it possible that the claim that overtime is down is not known or is not factual? Is it possible the claim was merely a political statement not grounded in fact based research? How fascinating is your response.

So I, once again, ask whoever created this posting to supply the facts, by department, that show that overtime is down. If so it should be easy to prove. If not the statement should not be made - unless, of course, it was political all along. And then whoever created the original post would be putting themselves into the same category they regularly lump the bloggers over at the C-T blog - and heaven forbid we establish that as the truth.

  6. 852 and 819 - the stats are available to everyone - regardless of political persuasion. I was simply stating that you can FOIL the info., and therefore take any "political slant" out of the equation - and you may then make your own determination based upon the facts that you would have in your hands. 852- arrogance?!?! Your response drips arrogance

  7. Linda....It was this blog that made an assertion without the alleged supporting facts. 819 was asking for the facts which supported the assertion. Without them, it is a baseless assertion. This blog asserted that Cristo/Taylor made disparaging comments about the Police force, but responded with no comment when asked for the facts supporting the assertion. Unfortunately, I did not copy all the garbage which this blog posted before it deleted its own history.

  8. I'd guess that Taylor/Cristo were asked to take down the blog thread naming their candidates and opening up a dialogue to start bashing the current board...if they could have realized it was inappropriate to throw the new candidates under the bus already, it wouldn't have been up in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Linda, if the stats were used to make the claim that overtime is down why are you so reluctant to share the information? We can speculate but if you are being open, honest and truthful please be a good person and either furnish them or admit that the claim was made without sufficient research. Here's to betting that you, or whoever made that claim, did so without checking the facts and are now more than a little embarassed. Political discourse is made all the harder when people, of any political persuastion, make unsupportable claims. May we all learn a lesson from this interesting exchange. And Linda, in the opinion of many, when you defend the undefendable or fire back when you are kind of in the wrong you do, indeed, come across as arrogant. Sorry about that.

  11. It is noted in this posting that the Democratic super majority is cooperating for the good of our town. Why was Rick Matters left out on this point? Is he not cooperating? A review of his voting record gives every appearance that he is, indeed, cooperating. In point of fact the only recent "No" vote came from Phil Malone on the resolution to increase our DPW crew by one. Those, friends and neighbors, are all facts.

  12. It would be nice if you could put up the OT numbers - last year vs this year, thru April 30th. I would imagine and hope the Police Dept OT is way down as last year's #s were very high (there were legitimate reasons for the high # last year).

It would be good to see the OT#s broken down by Police Dept and All Other Depts.

I do agree, if the statement is made that OT is down, then why not provide the detail behind that assertion. Otherwise the assertion does not mean all that much.

  13. 313-It's shocking how often people 'call out' the people they disagree with, and never 'call out' the people they agree with.

    http://eastgreenbushblog.blogspot.com/2010/06/ot-is-eye-opener-by-ann-taylor.html

No one questioned Ann's source of facts until I started FOILing OT numbers in September.

I'm not saying the facts in this post shouldn't be questioned or that Ann's should, merely commenting on the oozing partisanship.

To shed light on the OT, you can look here:

    http://www.east-greenbush.com/wiki/index.php?title=Overtime

Yearly figures since 2000, and monthly figures since 10/2010. The poster is right OT has gone down from March to April, but we are still on track to surpass last years $440,000 in OT Earnings. I'm eager to see what May brings. Was April an anomoly or the sunrise?

THANX NATE - YOUR VERY CORRECT IN THAT ALL THE REFORMERS ARE STILL LOOKING TO KNOCK AND MAKE EVERY ATTEMPT TO EMBARASS THE DEMS AT ALL COSTS! ANGRY-MAN DON JOHNSON-( who still owes the Town $ from his multi-failed law suit) STOPS AT NOTHING AND THROWS AROUND USELESS POINTS LIKE HE'S THE MESSIAH OF THE TAXPAYER. NATE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO WILL STAND THERE AND LET TAYLOR AND HER PACK OF PITBULLS DISPARAGE HIM AT EVERY TURN. EVEN LITTLE SHAKESPEARE MAKES FUN OF NATE AND SCOLDED HIM PUBLICLY. THEY SHOW EACH AND EVERY TIME THAT THEY ARE NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF WHINEY SORE LOSERS ! POLICE OVERTIME IS MONEY WELL SPENT - UNLESS YOUR A REFORMER. DPW OT IS MONEY WELL SPENT - AGAIN UNLESS YOUR A REFORMER.

  18. Jon - 939 - I think our Police officers and DPW workers do a great job. The value the transfer station offers is incredible, and I've never worried about safety while in EG.

I'm not sure I buy 'OT is money well spent' or Mr. Van Wormer's 'nothing you can do' about OT.

If I thought the board had really addressed the issue and after taking a hard look determined there was nothing can be done, then I may buy it. I think the only thing the board has looked hard at is the other way.

Look at historical OT numbers for Transfer Station. Between 2001-2003 0 hrs OT. ZERO! 3 years. What emergency requires OT at the fixed hour transfer station? Pipes burst? No. Break ins or Traffic Accidents? No.

And then we have Parks. If there was ever a department the board should put its foot down for, it's parks. If the residents don't care enough to get involved and volunteer, then maybe they don't deserve to have nice parks, nice events.

Parks and Transfer Station alone combine for $30,000-$50,000 of the OT each year. And why can't we afford Audit recommended software??

I'm proud to be a member of the Parks Task Force, and I thank my stars the guys at the Transfer Station work as hard as they do. I count the transfer station to be a big positive for our town.

However, I'm not sold that $30,000-$50,000 each year is being 'well spent'.

  19. Nate: having been a "union " member most of my career , let me offer this small and singular explanation to you regarding OT.

OT mostly is used to cover "emergency " situations, ones that cannot be foreseen, yet need attention. Medical leave-sick call is usually the case , but not always. Specifically in the cases of DPW and the Police - OT is caused by a variety of conditions and as Mr. Van Wormer stated - you cannot control it always - you can try to curb the most of it, but its virtually impossible to control it totally. Without getting into a very long post , mother nature and criminals unfortunately dictate ALOT of the OT claimed by employees of the DPW and PD. Its nothing more complicated than that, and its really that simple. Vacation leave throughout the course of the year also creates OT coverage issues.
I thought the smartest thing the current board did was to make sure each department was at full staff, which greatly reduced the need to back-fill positions each day with people on overtime! That was a wise move in my eyes.

Others may disagree with me - and feel free- so long as you speak from a position of experience - not political doublespeak.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I do believe Nate has posted that at least some of the OT #'s are down . I thought I read that he calculated a significant decrease in Police overtime specifically.
DPW's OT is based ALOT on weather -
(snow, significant rain or wind, water breaks, etc.) There would be too many variables to be able to accurately predict whether or not the Town will exceed last years totals.

  21. I personally don't know any of the candidates on the Reform/Republican roster. I do notice though, that nobody over here is badmouthing them.

Supermouth (Ann) is going to keep being nasty when speaking of the current town government until she can incite some nasty dialogue. One would think she would have learned by now. She managed to lose the election because she just doesn't know when to stop...perhaps she can do the same for those running this year. Way to go Annie!

    ReplyDelete
  22. We have deleted posts that bad mouth the Republican candidates. They were truly in bad taste and clearly would have started a dialog that was headed nowhere.
Although we realize that there are others who think this blog is evil and started all the bad mouthing and mudslinging , I would remind them that it wasn't anyone here that was thrown off the Times Union Blog, and it wasn't anyone here who left all the trashy comments on their blog after the election in 2010.
It was suggested by readers of both blogs that we clear the slate after the election and attempt to start new- we did and are now openly criticized for doing so.! Oh well...you can't please everyone.
As far as what is allowed and not allowed- being the moderator of either blog is not a great position of power or strength. It is more or less like having a continual case of the flu !
Best wishes to ALL the candidates. We obviously will support the incumbents - egblog, (C/T blog) will support anyone running against the incumbents- so be it !

  26. Poor Ann Taylor!! She couldn't get nominated to run for the Town Board this year - after being a 2 time loser. Or, she was afraid to run - which is it? Now she wants to blog about the same issues she lost with twice. Why can't she keep her mouth shut and let the candidates run a clean campaign based on the issues at hand instead of constantly trying to start trouble. I personally could care less who Queen Taylor or King Cristo endorse for any position.
Most people in East Greenbush obviously feel the same way or they would have both been elected.

Go away and enjoy your life together. When someone has nothing positive to add to this town, they need to move aside and let those that can get things accomplished do the work of the fine citizens of East Greenbush.

Ann, you are approaching 50 years old - it's time to grow up and stop the whining. Good luck in your next endeavor - outside of politics.

    ReplyDelete
  27. EGTalks, I applaud your effort to keep it clean.

8:06- Thanks for the explanation. I understand not being able to control it totally, but how many years of $200,000+ OT do you need to see before you take action? Unless you argue action has been taken, then I say what prevents it from being effective? To me the after two years of $200,000+ if crime requires that much money, why not make staffing adjustments?

Or in the case of Sewer/Water how many years of $50,000++ before you start looking for solutions?

I still wonder what 'conditions' cause the parks or the Transfer Station to eat up $30,000+ on a yearly basis?

While we are on the subject, I wonder what measures are in place to prevent abuse? Having worked for a company with an unlimited OT policy(I'm not saying EG does, simply stating), I can tell you very often people took advantage of the situation. OUr boss said as long as the work got done he didn't care what we did. Obviously the employees of this town don't have the luxury a private corporation does, or unlimited OT. It'd be interesting to see what metrics are expected of an employee.

  28. Surprise, surprise! Ann & Mike didn't publish my post! On their latest thread, Ann ranted in comment 10 on many things, including how family/friend appointments should be abolished. I agreed with her, but also very politely reminded her how Mike Cristo did the same thing in appointing Mr. DeFruscio. I ended by saying "What's good for the goose is good for the gander." I guess they only want to remind us of other political shortcomings and not their own. Funny thing is I'm not even a Democrat! I'm an Independent but don't think I honestly could support anyone Cristo or Taylor do.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Mr Hans I think you and others that complain about the overtime are jealous people. The workers of this town have union contracts and agreements that have been negotiated over many years by many different town board members. The reports you put in the paper regarding overtime are doing one thing wasting your time ,no one cares, most people have there families to worry about and life goes on.It gets kinda boring picking up the paper and seeing you expound and you dont understand reasons why things are the way they are.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Nate; I can only offer the following: that when a serious crime occurs, OT is almost guaranteed. When there's a major waterbreak, a freak snowstorm or highwinds and rain , OT is always the result. Many factors, many, many factors contribute to the never-ending OT saga. Vacations and medical leave are also significant factors. I would highly suggest that if possible, you attempt to get time to sit and talk with the Chief and Mr. VanWormer and maybe they could be a bit more specific.

There goes little Annie with the temper again! She starts out by trying to blame the Dems for "sliming" her car- we ALL know it was you and yours that did it ! Stop your lying ! and for those of you who can't see the difference- ann answers herself several times on each of her threads because no one reads her blog except Jim Cozzy and Don Johnson-(hic) and her boyfriend Cristo. Shameful Ann- your a two-time loser and still can't see the writing on the wall in front of you.

  32. Ann is pretty laughable...she can't possibly believe that people don't know which "Anon" comments are from her...same with Mike. Keep them coming. Ann, you are still Number 2 on the list as the biggest trouble makers and bulls*** artists in town. Mike, don't worry - you are still Number 1!

Also, the rumor is that you and your group have promised Kip Sheldon the DPW Commissioner job if elected. Not gonna happen!

He screwed up the Town of EGB- he's a "do nothing" at the county level- what possibly are they thinking with the school board after he voted in that conveinent and hefty raise for the HVCC staff - and then attempted to defend it !! PUHLEEZ !!

  36. That poor swell guy, Chris DeFruscio...
Our little Ann's feeling the heat so she has thrown Chris under the bus blaming him and his committee for the selections of the Republican Party. I don't blame her for distancing herself from the issues this election. The town is on the road to recovery - despite the national economy still struggling. Ann's scenario of doom and gloom hasn't happened so what is she to do? Certainly not give credit to the 5 members of the board. That would mean she was wrong and she can't have that!

She can't run for office and get whipped, so she plays innocent. Nothing is her fault.

Thank you Rick McCabe - I'm not sure how you can stay quiet with all the mis-information and foolish jibberish. And....for Ann and Mike - just stopthe lying and fabrication of facts. Your continual assertion that laws were broken or violated simply doesn't hold water any longer.

  41. I must confess I was once a Taylor/Cristo junkie. I beleived all of the rhetoric and thought Mike and Ann were sincere and really cared about the town. But, as I learned after the election, you don't hear a word from either one of them if they don't need you or something from you. They could care less about how you are doing or your family. To the "The Insider" - if you are who I think you are, you know this is true and we need to talk. We both know secrets.

  42. Let's face it...Ann & Mike care about Ann & Mike.

They are trying to stir up trouble within the town and trying to stir up trouble between candidates and they are not even running. There's a whole lot of hate in those two...it's no wonder they lost so many times. Were they never taught "You catch more flies with honey"?

When they do have something nice to say, it's usually only about each other...little obvious huh! Go away and let a fair campaign be run. If the Republican candidates are as wonderful as you say they are...let them run on their own merits....not everyone needs to belittle and berate other people to make themselves look good.
    I admit...Ann & Mike..you did need that...but it cost you anyway.
