  1. Chins up if your headed to the Ed Gilbert meeting. He has NO INTENTION of allowing residents to file ethics complaints.

Watch him fill the room with bullsh*t as he performs the job he was placed there to do ; stall the ETHICS COMPLAINTS AGAINST LANGLEY AND DEFRUSCIO!

  2. anonymOus February 07, 2015 9:35 AM. I attended last Wednesday’s Board of Ethic Workshop and there was actually some good news. Mr. Gilbert and Attorney Gruenberg began the meeting by acknowledging what we, EG cItizens, told them at the previous BOE meeting in Oct or Nov……that a Board of Ethics can, in fact, handle complaints from citizens. Jack Conway (Chairman of the BOE group that developed the new ethic code) was also at the meeting and he explained the process and procedures that his group developed for handling citizen complaints and maintaining confidentiality. For whatever reason, these provisions were not included in the law that the Town Board passed in late 2013.

Now that they have acknowledged that citizen complaints are permissible, the next steps, as I understand, are for the current BOE to develop and send a resolution to the Town Board amending the town’s current Ethics Law to allow these kind of complaints and then implement the process after the TB passes the amendment.

So 9:35AM, if you can, please attend the public hearing for this matter and 1.) voice your support for this change and 2.) demand that both the BOE and the TB get this done promptly. And come even if you can’t be there for the inconvenient 5PM start of this public discussion.

    2. Thats great Lee ! When can we officially file Ethics complaints against Anthony Corellis and Chris Lavin ? Was there a time table given ?
Any idea's if Gilbert can remain impartial as we citzens exercise our rights to complain about Republican Town Employees ?
There's little doubt he would go after democrat Town Employee with such vengence...what about Corellis and Lavin, both of whom are staunch Republicans and Langley supporters !

    3. I guess that there will be some SNAFU that Gilbert will concoct when it comes to bringing to light some of the shenanigans of Corellis and Lavin.
No doubt those complaints will never see the light of day !

  3. In town run as poorly as East Greenbush has been run it is critical that citizens have the right to file ethics complaints.

I filed, and won, a Open Government law complaint against Liccardi and McCabe. The process took awhile but the result led to the publication of the draft of the ethics code that, prior to that, citizens had been denied access to.

I have just one respectful suggestion to everyone...

Use the ethics code process as it was intended to be used. Avoid using it for partisan political purposes. Make fact based complaints. If we can all do that good government will be the inevitable result.

  4. 9:46 - it would be hard to not call many legitimate complaints "partisan".
The instant that someone files a complaint against Corellis or Lavin, ti will immediately be branded "partisan politics" and I fear will lead to "no action" by either Gilbert or Langley.
There are numerous complaints that could and should be filed against Anthony Corellis. I'm told that Lavin is building complaints daily and he's so arrogant that he could care less. If Mike Poorman was my brother in-law, I'm not sure I would feel differently !

    1. Did the Town ever recoup the 28k+ $$ that Lavin "awarded" himself back a few years ? Funny how a man who thinks he's smarter than everyone else thought he was going to get away with that !
      What a PUTZ !

  5. There's a littany of complainst waiting for the BOE and Town Board to pass that resolution. Several taxpayers are patiently waiting to file.
Time frame Lee ? Anytime soon ?

    1. Unfortunately, no time frame was offered. Jack Conway, however, gave each BOE member a hard copy of the practices and procedues that were developed previously (that this Board apparently didn't have), so it seems to me that it is now pretty well laid out for the BOE. We should have a better idea where it looks like it's going after tomorrow's Pre-Board/Public Hearing.

The TB's vote previously to OK the public hearing on citizen complaints was pretty much a no brainer/no-risk vote. From here on out votes on citizen's complaints get riskier for 3 of the 5 Board members. So we have to keep pressing and pressing harder.

  6. The BOE met again last night and according to the attendee I spoke they set a timeline to present the amendment resolution allowing citizen complaints to the TB in April. They considered March, but decided it was too ambitious. Believe Ed Gilbert will outline their plan today at the Public Hearing.

  9. It would be great if you made this topic a new post.

Now we can see the corruption starts at the top--with the County. Martin Reid, Chairman of the Rensselaer County Legislature, takes unemployment he is ineligible for, and he may get a "pass" by the D.A. He is still sitting as the Chairman of the Legislature, http://www.timesunion.com/news/article/Martin-T-Reid-s-benefits-scrutinized-in-6024541.php. He needs to be removed as Chairman and the Legislature's minority has alot of support with their stand on this. Martin needs to go.
Email the County Legislature's Minority Leader, Peter Grimm and let him know you agree with him, pgrimm@rensco.com. Peter Grimm can use the support for this. The corruption in our politics has to stop! We pay into unemployment insurance and to know an elected County Legislator took it when he wasn't eligible--BAD! Paying it back doesn't make it right; it makes it an admission of guilt. Martin Reid should step down or be forced off the Legislature and, at the very least, he should be removed as Chairman.
Email Peter Gimm and let him know how you feel, pgrimm@rensco.com.
Email Joel Abelove as well, the County D.A., jabelove@rensco.com.

Email Peter Gimm, Minority Leader, at pgrimm@rensco.com. Show Peter Grimm your support and stop the corruption at the County level.

  11. Martin Reid , Phil Danaher and Rich Crist are as crooked as the day is long !
Don and company over on the fly love to blog how corrupt the Dems are, but quite frankly, there's no comparison. The republicans in this county and in the Town of East greenbush clearly take the cake for not only being the arrogant, abusive pricks that they are , but lets be honest folks, the unmitigated gaul they have in helping themselves and their families to our tax dollars.
Some person write on the fly that Maney,Mangolds, Harts and others have their names on too many projects in town. Well- DUH! They own the properties and PAY THEIR TAXES promptly. What prominent Republican has bought up used, worn out buildings, rehabbed them and pays the taxes due ?? Whats that - SILENCE !? I thought so.!
But rather than playing the Dem/Repub game, we were starting to make progress - TOGETHER - in ridding this Town of those theives who deceived us resident taxpayers...we need to stay focused and on point and as one other said, LANGLEY AND GILBERT ARE CLEARLY IN RE-ELECTION MODE.
BASICALLY: they are full of sh*t !
Here comes the next veriosn of that f-ing SWF garbage they rammed down our throats....buyer beware !

    1. Actually, they wrote "Maney, Hart and Malone", Mangold is a Hart and its a fact. Kudos, they pay their taxes what's your point?

    2. My point is exactly that ...d-a Defruscio and his merry band of idiots running our Town into the ground, lining theirs and their friend and families pockets, WHAT profitable, tax contributable , businesses do they own in Town? What empty buildings have they purchased and rehabbed into profitable businesses?
NONE ! Thats my point ! Stop throwing mud at those that actually take the ruins of the left over Jimmy Werking regime, yup the one that refused development in this town for years, and make open,p[rofitable, tax paying businesses in Town. Quite frankly, the ole Ames plaza and Selenas are two of the most visible, viable businesses in EG.
Please feel free to tell me what Gilbert,Defruscio,Mulvey,Langley,Tirino have done to do anything even close to that ......once again...silence and crickets..
DXefruscio is an immature scam artist who got lucky the last election. He's actually a worthless, not so good used car thief !
Tirino can't seem to hold a job ~ anywhere, Mulvey either.....and yet these idiots are calling the shots in our fair Town......GOOD GRIEF !

    3. I do agree with much of what you say and I don't mean to imply that the businesses the Hart's have been brought in are bad. What is bad is the fact that they dont necessarily need to follow the same process we have to. If they are so stand up why do they wouldnt need to bypass procedures because they have an in with town hall. Mt point is we see the same names circling town hall. Whoever or whatever the party, it hasn't worked for EG. While the businesses brought in arent bad, they haven't exactly helped our town have they? Who owns the empty store fronts up 9&20 that are an eye sore with no landscaping? Oh thats right, the Harts and Witbecks.

      Delete
    4. Empty store fronts on 9&20 are the property of the Witbecks and others...no Harts... just a p.o.i.

Hart owned properties are all occupied by tax paying businesses...please feel free to point out those that I may have missed.

      Delete
    5. @ 7:16 AM- Didn't Langley appoint a member of the Witbeck family as Town Historian? Let's make sure Langley is history on election day.
      No Langley in 2015!!

    6. The purpose of my original post had nothing to do with what properties the Hart's own. The point is the same families and friends circulate town hall. Many bad poloiticians pay their taxes. I am not one of those people who claim 9&20 is a ghost town and I don't feel it is loaded with vacant lots.

  12. And don't forget our bright new district attorney Joel Abelove. I agree with most of your statements 4:45 PM but if you look at the latest Gadfly comment you will see that both Repubs and Dems are blamed equally for the joke that is known as East Greenbush. Langley's recent self-congratulatory campaign speeches made at Town Board meetings are a pathetic example of hollow chest-beating.
On the other hand - don't just blame the Reps. for helping themselves to the spoils. There was a lot of that going on during the Dems time in office as well. What we need now is a way to stop all the BS and get down to running the town without all of the undercurrent of corruption bubbling to the surface.

  13. What the Town needs will more than likely NEVER happen. A Manager that would be someone NOT LIVING IN THIS TOWN; who can HELP re-construct East Greenbush, get rid of ALL of the low life's in BOTH parties; ones who are looking at the Supe's salary ONLY, someone who has no ties to this town; other than to do what is right for the Residents. Will that ever happen? Hell no, it will always be a town wanting to put your friends in, your family members, ones who know nothing about the job, even no show jobs. Wake up East Greenbush; Langley is not the answer, nor is Malone; so if we have to vote for those 2, it'd be better to just stay home and not VOTE, UNLESS we get a good candidate who isn't in it for the almighty dollar; or to bring their cronies back. Jack Conway, if you do run; your chances are 100 percent that you'll win! Go for it; those other 2 clowns have no chance and we need somebody with some back bone.

  14. Jack may well have the very best of intentions, but unless he has cross over votes from BOTH the dem and repub. side, I fear his very best interests will be for naught ! Its great that you all think you've won a victory on the Casino debacle, but then there's always the thought that it was never coming here in the 1st place, regardless of what SEG wants people to think.
A very prominent insider made it perfectly clear that the Governor had no intentions of allowing it in either EG or Rensselaer because of a little "tiff" he is having with Mayor Sheehan.
All fine an well, but I fully trust that explanation rather than the siting board recognizing SEG as the reason for not allowing it here or Rensselaer.

So before you all puff up your chests with your $50 checks, try to see the obvious reasons that the casino didn't come here...for people like Don, who knows all too well that Andrew gets what Andrew wants....the latter is probably the real reason theres no casino in EG.

If Jack should decide to throw his hat in the ring...I trust that the Ethics Board will be re-constituted into something viable and workable for ALL Town residents...and that the foolishness that we all live with each and every day from Defruscio,Gilbert,Lavin,Corellis , will disappear almost immediately ! Thats my-( and several others ) hope !

    1. I was at the Siting Board press conference on 12/17/2014 and after it was over I and another EG residence approached the Board's Chairman, Mr. Law to thank him for their decision. Mr. Law asked if we part of the EG casino opposition group and when we said we were, Mr. Law said "You guys made a difference". We found out later that he said the same thing to others who spoke with him that day. So I'm going to trust a definitive statement I heard (no hearing jokes allowed here) along with others from Siting Board Chairman Law's mouth.

  15. Please show me where people from SEG specifically state they are the sole reason the sitting board didn't choose EG. We recognized from day one we were a horrible site and shouldn't be chosen. But we didn't just sit back, we called out the facts. If you attended any of the gaming sessions you would've had the opportunity to hear directly from the FLB that our efforts did not go unrecognized and thanked certain individuals several times.

    1. 10:07 - thats not what I said. I'm not looking to start an argument.
Lee Cookson; I'm sure thats exactly what the siting Board person said. He would never leak what he actually knew.

As for "specifically" , your hackels are up for no reason. The bottom line is this: there's the very distinct possibility that there was another reason for the casino going elswhere....thats all....and knowing Jack Conway as an honest man , I'm simly suggesting that he will need "help" if indeed he runs in November. Not to say that the "help" won't be there against Langley....

My last paragraph reveals my exact opinion....please read it again

  19. Jack Conway;
#1 - read what I said, its NOT MY PIPE DREAM....I simply repeated a different point of view, which came from someone who would know.

My god you people at SEG get your hair on fire when someone suggests something different....did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe, someone may have had someone in a position to know what I pointed out?

Are you so gullible and drunk on the SEG party that your blind to that possibility?

You want support for a run at Supe.? You'd better wake up to the very firm fact that some of us know people in higher places than you !
I wasn't starting a fight, just simply pointing something out that none of you clearly have ever known about.....or if you did, you dismissed it because you don't have people who could verify it !
I did and I do have those people !
Remember this Jack, Andrew gets what Andrew wants.....that sir is a fact !

  20. Hey Zing

We talked to five or six people in position to know and they all believed East Greenbush was THE choice for a casino in April when the issue first arose. I doubt those people really knew and I doubt your person knows. If you followed the process closely you could see the ups and downs of the application review process. I always respect different points of view but for you to anonymously dismiss the herculean efforts of hundreds of people with an unsubstantiated rumor is too easy and I'm not letting you off the hook for it. Use your name and that of your source and we can begin a conversation on the subject. If you won't do that your view on this subject has no credibility. Anyone can say anything if they won't sign their name. I stand by my "pipe dream" comment. Since it's easy to feel your resentment towards Save East Greenbush in your comments, it's pretty clear that you were pro-casino and need some kind of emotional payback to make up for the fact that you were out-worked, out-maneuvered and out-played by Save East Greenbush.

If I ever did run for public office I would assume that everyone knows more people in high places than I do. Being unconnected would probably be the heart of my platform and my reason for running. I hope Andrew doesn't mind.
