The
following is the official policy for removal of vehicles from streets in East Greenbush during snow emergencies.
The Commissioner of Public Works may declare
a Snow Emergency after four inches of snow has fallen. Once a Snow Emergency has been declared, all
public highways (state, county & local) will be deemed to be emergency
routes. Local Law #3 of 1964 prohibits
the parking of or leaving parked any vehicle on an emergency route until, the
snow has been cleared. This measurement is taken locally and weather bureau statistics have no bearing on this determination.
Department of Public Works snow plow
operators finding nuisance vehicles hindering the plowing of snow will notify
the Highway Department Foreman of the location, license plate number and a
description of the vehicle. The Foreman
will contact the Police Department.
Parking tickets are to be
issued to those vehicles found to be in violation of this Local Law.
The Chief of Police will supply a list of
vehicles issued parking tickets for violation of this Local Law to the
Department of Public Works Commissioner and to the Dispatcher, the next Snow
Emergency will be handled in the same manner.
However, if a vehicle found to be in violation, has previously been
ticketed, the following procedure will be followed. The Police Department will be notified that this
vehicle is a repeat offender and a ticket will be issued. An effort will be made either by telephone or
in person to notify the owner of the violation and to request the vehicle be moved. If the vehicle is not moved off the street or
if notification can not be made, a tow agency will be summoned. A police officer will meet the tow operator
at the vehicle and be present when the vehicle is removed. Once removed, the vehicle is the
responsibility of the tow agency and may be held until claimed by the owner and
any and all towing expenses satisfied.
The ticketing and/or towing of vehicles in
violation is authorized by LL-3-64.
Vehicle owners are responsible for all tow / removal costs.
THANK YOU to our DPW men. Today they were totally overwhelmed and kept the streets clean as best they could ! Thank You !
ReplyDeleteAnd....they did it all without Antony driving them all nuts !
ReplyDeleteDon't understand why Sherwood Park is always the last area to be plowed; and the driver(s) act as if they're on something. Only reason I'm bringing this up is I had to take my grand daughter to a friend's in Hampton Manor and the streets were in GREAT SHAPE. What's going on? It has to be the drivers; why else would one part of town be in GREAT SHAPE and the other side of town a TOTAL DISGRACE.
ReplyDeletetruck may have broke down...
DeleteYeah OK! For the past 10 years Sherwood Park has looked like crap. Lets get Jeff out there!!
