EAST GREENBUSH- East Greenbush and Rensselaer Police have arrested an East Greenbush man after a lengthy investigation.

A search warrant was executed for 34-year-old Michael Coleman’s Rugby Road address on Thursday. He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of marijuana and criminal nuisance.

During the search, police seized 42 pounds of marijuana, two pounds of hashish, one pound of hallucinogenic mushrooms, $167,000, two shotguns and a 2007 Honda Civic.

Coleman was taken to Rensselaer County Jail without bail.

  4. Timmy - yup - still here !January 06, 2012 9:39 AM

TALKS; sorry that this is not the correct place to write this but I couldn't help notice that the cynical hypocrite , otherwise known as Dwight Jenkins, has written a piece and claims to know about patronage and nepotism.

What Dwight failed to do was give the earliest examples of REPUBLICAN NEPOTISM and PATRONAGE that existed for over twenty years under the REPUBLICAN RULED TOWN BOARD.
The names on THAT LIST far exceed his examples and his attempt to embarrass certain current Town employees.

In an effort to keep it clean , I will not post that list , but suffice it to say that poor Dwight is once again spouting off to make himself and his pals Taylor, Johnson, Grant,Mulvey and Mooney feel better.

Oh , and BTW Anne, your not worth writing about - rather your simply pathetic and in need of a decent psychiatric exam to help you identify and better deal with your suppressed feelings of anger - LMAO!!

Hope you can seize the home, too.

  8. Timmy Yup: There is a huge difference in reading and comprehending. In the article that you have issues with he stated that the problem has always been there. The issue is why won't it change. Probably because people like you think it is okay because that's the way it's always been done. Personally I agree with Dwight it should stop. The town is hemorrhaging cash but there always seems to be enough to make sure "friends" can continue to nurse at the government teat. I could name names as well but it is the policy not the specifics that has to change

    ReplyDelete
  9. OK - lets start the new policy right now - with the new Supe - ( if he agrees of course). He must immediately terminate Eileen Grant and dismiss Red Guynup - NO?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Right or wrong, patronage has existed since man first organized into groups with leaders. Ut exists in every level of government in every country of the world.

Dwight Jenkins won't change it, Man on a Moose won't change it, the Tea Party won't change it, the reformers won't change it (certainly didn't change in 2010 when Christo, Danaher and Matters implemented their coup).

Everyone's up in arms about late audits, but Man On A Moose maintains the "town is hemorrhaging cash". Really now? What' the basis for his statement?

Supervisor Langley has five patronage appointments per NYS law ... who is 2:55 or anyone to begrudge him these five?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Speaking of the Cristo coup - lest we forget the carnage he deliberatly created when he "cleaned house" and put his personal friends and their relatives into posts within Town Govermnent ! That little debacle was ALL Mike Cristos doing....not Matters, not Danaher , ALL CRISTO!

  14. Timmy, I guess in your world we are forever condemmed to live in the past and repeat the mistakes of the past.

Look, everyone concedes your argument. We got it - past administrations of both parties did the same things.

BUT...today our town has a large and growing deficit. Our credit ratings are in the tank.

Don't you see that it is time for new and different solutions?

In your world how do we fix both? Wait for the economy to turn around? Not likely to happen for the foreseeable future. More and higher tax increases? What's your financial game plan for our town?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I guess where you stand depends on where you sit. Patronage was fine when Christo, Danaher and Matters took control of the board. As was their doing nada about deficits.

Now according to 1:25, "our town has a large and growing deficit"!

1:25 and Man On A Moose - what records are you looking at?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Try again without the needless name calling.
    - or don't - your choice

  17. Dear 1:59 PM:

The Moodys and S&P reviews of our town, the last OSC audit, the report prepared by the town's financial consultant, etc.

Ask Pete Stenson and the CFAC or FOIL for town records for confirmation.

Facts are troublesome little things; no doubt about it.

Th conversation needs to be elevated beyond who did what. Your point about everything Cristo and every other prior town board did is conceded.

What do we do now is where the conversation needs to go.

The town needs to unite around the current and real state of our finances and here's to hoping a tax increase is not in anyone's set of recommendations.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 1:25 "our town has a large and growing deficit"!

Man On A Moose "The town is hemorrhaging cash"

    These are PRESENT tense!

Again, "what records are you looking at?"

    ReplyDelete
  19. Our credit ratings are on the way back up ! Granted - they are not where any of us would like them , but they are clearly better than this time last year ! As far as the Town hemorrhaging cash - well that statement should come from some one who would have direct knowledge and as a rule, the statement should not be thrown around like it has validity . Clearly , the Town is NOT hemorrhaging cash.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Not quite true, Old Timer. The Water/Sewer Bond rating dropped to BBB (by Standard & Poors) in October of 2011, but we didn't find out abut it until after the Election. We also have not seen the Toski financial statement audit for 2010 either. Not having it was one of the things that made S&P nervous, contributing to the BBB rating.

The apparently new disbursements for Personal Service added at the Organizational Meeting will contribute to hemorrhaging cash. Unless, of course, that slush was hidden in the Budget for just such an eventuality.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @ 11:18 do your own research frankly i'm tired of have to put your nose in the information. Maybe Hemorrhaging was to strong a word but the fact remains there is cause for concern when a town of our size has the budget that we have.
@ old timer our credit rating is not on the way back up. There is the rating and the outlook. the rating has stayed the same the outlook went from negative to positive. The rating is still Junk bond and probably will remain so until the deficit has been reduced a lot further and the town demonstrates fiscal responsibility.

    ReplyDelete
  22. can't back up your claim, eh

    ReplyDelete
  23. The General Fund deficit is $1,200,000.

    ReplyDelete
  24. No ...it's not....and for those of you who unwittingly navigated to Dwights hysteria page of blasphemy and embellishment - consider this :
What we have in East Greenbush clearly is not a " well organized minority" rather it's simply the MAJORITY Board , elected overwhelmingly by the people of East Greenbush ! Langley winning was not an "overthrow" it was a choice and the people spoke - narrowly - but they spoke .

Simply because you don't like them and can't seem to wrap your head around their decisions , doesn't mean you get to carry on about "excessive taxes" and blame people for doing "nothing".!

One thing is clear - your narrow minded and extremely thin focus on the current economy in East Greenbush - trumped up by your extraordinary views on how you THINK things should be, - shows everyone exactly that you simply have NO IDEA how Goverment runs - either at the State level or local level.

You think that there's room to lower taxes in East Greenbush - either by cutting services or reductions in salaries. You accuse the Board of lies and pulling money from our pockets in the form of excessive taxes.
Your ridiculously mistaken and clearly out of touch with reality. The National economy and State economy clearly are worse off than little East Greenbush, and if you were to do a comparative analysis of our neighboring communities - East Greenbush is no worse than any of them around us - that's a FACT! Your supporters can massage the numkbers any way they want - but no community is any better or worse than East Greenbush - FACT!

To rant and carry on because you hate the Democratic Board members is clearly counter-productive - but its obviously the way you choose to conduct business - to blaspheme and label those you disgree with.
You paraphrase and liken local politicians to thugs and encourage people to hate them because your on a crusade to embarrass and label Board members in hopes of putting in your selected minions to do your political bidding. What happens when our current Supe comes out with a statement and you don't agree with him ??
Is he now your enemy?!? You supported him - you said to McCabe it was never personal - yet it clearly is VERY PERSONAL with you.
Your version of euphoria in East Greenbush is unrealistic and unattainable in this economy. My suggestion to you is that you simply contact a local real-estate agent and move on to where ever you can find what your looking for. I highly doubt you'll find it in the North East- but hey - you keep looking.
And since when do you expect to live in the house with the "Kodak-view" and the surrounding acreage and expect "low-taxes"?!?
Seems like you want your cake and you clearly want to eat it too ! Your blog is insufficient and your a coward for not letting people respond to you directly.
And some of us are veterans as well - stop your carrying on like we "owe" you something. I enlisted too - and I expect nothing from anyone.

    1. Just time to start reading, my friend. Standard and Poors would be a good place to start. They cited the absence of the 2010 independent audit by Toski and a legacy of fiscal mismanagement. This is an independent agency reviewing facts of recent history. Stop making things up. I think it would be fair to assert that YOU don't know how government works.

Guys you are such a big help I just dont want to see people get hurt . This is only my opinion and some of my neighbors. Thank you so much see you both next week

  30. Friend....what do you expect Joe and Reggie to do? They are not management and have to do what they are told....whether they like it or not.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree with you, friend. Joe and Reggie are the best! BUT whoever made this decision to put everything in one BIN was definitely not thinking straight that day! Its always overflowing; I had to take my recyclables back home until next week when the damn thing is emptied. Somebody needs to step up to the plate and get this problem fixed.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The Town has chosen to recycle differently , and much more efficiently. The vendor that East Greenbush works with has now offered recycling done the way its done all over the country.
The beginning is always the hardest and once its established, there should be a substantial savings for the Town. I would suggest we all be patient as the new system has its flaws worked out.

    ReplyDelete
  33. S&P also identifies "offsetting positive factors" including:

"Recent indications of improvement of the town's finances, including a demonstrated willingness to make adjustments to begin to return to structurally balanced operations; and

The town's stable local economy, with strong wealth and income indicators."

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. What's the documentation of the "demonstrated willingness?" Hard to have that without an independent audit, isn't it? S&P complained about the absence of that, didn't they?

      Delete
    2. you'll have to ask S&P as it's from their press release

      http://www.bondsonline.com/print/Todays_Market/Credit_Rating_News_.php?DA=view&RID=20241

Funny thing, S&P's press release says nothing about the lack of an audit.

No, it is not hard to have a "demonstrated willingness to make adjustments to begin to return to structurally balanced operations". It's very visible in the 2010, 2011 and 20 budgets.

  34. Joe and Reggie are the best! The new traffic flow and dumping all recyclables into one bin seem to decrease the time we customers are there and may get more money for the town. Give it some time.

I'd also suggest that the transfer station is NOT a playground and all folks under 16 or so stay in the vehicle.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Once again - people see and interpret data and opinions differently - depending on how exactly they wish to spin it politically. I'm not poking fun at anyone - just stating the obvious.....

We are not attacking just stating the obvious . just poor in sight and we are not pointing the finger at anybody . and I do agree kids should stay in the car, BUT THEY DONT ! and as adults and a town we should keep kids In mind when we design . 1. Talk about smug!. As adults, its up to parents to control their children. If the kids don't stay in the car when Mom or Dad tells them to, they get left at home next time.

  37. Isn't it amazing how KIDS rule their PARENTS these days. I know in my own family people have said "We don't bring the kids over because your hubby doesn't like them" NO, thats not the answer - the answer is these young parents expect to go out and have a good time and let their kids roam the house, play and break the computer - and do as damn well please as they want to. More than anyone - if you knew, I absolutely LOVE LOVE kids. BUT parents, WAKE up, not only at the Transfer Station, but every place you take them - make them behave. Don't forget, YOU are the PARENT, they are the KID.

    1. What a joke? Assistant; she's lucky she got that job. Its amazing; when the son worked there, he thought he was a know it all; and now the Town is blessed to have "Mrs. Know It All." Oh well in four years we'll have somebody who really deserves that position; didn't she already work for the State for 30 plus years; guess enough is never enough; wouldn't be bad but she definitely doesn't fit in; knows everything, everybody and wants to be in everybody's business. Stay Clear.
